Ultra-Efficient 90 LED Magnifier Lamp - Adjustable Arm - 5" Lens

I had recently worn out the lighted magnifier I use for electronics work. A lot of the gear I build and repair uses surface-mount components, the most-common-size of which is 2 by 1.25 millimeters. At almost age 60, it's a challenge to my vision.

My old magnifier had a 3-diopter lens, so I was very pleased to find the additional magnification of the 5-diopter lens on this model.

The dual CFL lamps provide even lighting, though sometimes I'd still welcome more of it.

The arm stays where it's put, and the friction settings are well-calibrated.

The only optical problem I have with the lens is that there's some diffraction/refraction (whichever it is!) error that results in some color-banding toward the edges of the lens. Viewing the work through the center of the lens is fine, though.

Just as with reading glasses, the trade-off for additional magnification is that depth-of-field is decreased, meaning that spacing between lens and work is more critical. For me, though, the added magnification is more than worth it.
